Besides many other fields, globalization and the developments in the field of information technologies have affected translation industry and translation world considerably. As a concrete result of these developments and the interaction between information technologies and translation, web site localization has evolved as a new type of language support in translation industry. One of the two aims of this Master of Arts thesis titled “The Process of Web Site Localization in Translation Bureaus in Turkey and the Use of Information Technologies” is to indicate how localization process, the use of information technologies in the process, the actors and their job definitions are described in translation studies literature. The other aim is to discuss whether or not website localization process in Turkey works in the way it is described in the literature in the light of the data from the questionnaire survey conducted within the framework of this study.
